John Peak (1838–1900)

John was born on 18 Sep, 1838 at George Street, Sunderlanda1,b1, the youngest son of John Peak (1815–1854)★, a baker, and Jane Harrison Todd (1814–1891)★. He was baptised as an infant on 3 Oct, 1838 in Sunderland, County Durhamb1. He is Ian's 3x great grandfather.

John was recorded in the 1851 census at Mount Pleasant, North Shieldsc1 with his father John and mother Jane Harrison.

He married Dinah Smith (1842–1900)★ on 19 Jul, 1858 in South Shields, County Durhama2 and went on to have seven children with her.

In the 1861 census he was living at 43 Middle Street, North Shieldsf1 with his wife Dinah and son Thomas Turner.

John was recorded in the 1871 census at Millers Bank, Bell Street, North Shieldsg1 with his wife Dinah and four children Thomas Turner, John, James Turner and Jane.

By the time of the 1881 census he was living at 19 Edwin Street, West Hartlepoolh1 with his wife Dinah and five children Thomas Turner, a mason, John, a general labourer, Jane, Louis and Rebecca Norvell.

In the 1891 census he was living at 102 High Street, Wallsendk1 with his wife Dinah, a general dealer (greengrocer) and three children John, a shipyard labourer, Louis, an apprentice shipyard and Rebecca Norvell, a shop assistant.

John died at the age of sixty-one on 17 Jun, 1900 at 24 Beacon Street, Tynemoutha12 and was buried days latera13
