Louisa was born on 2 Aug, 1876 in Newtown, Mynyddyslwyn^a1, the eldest daughter of Joseph Ximenes (1840–1880)★, a labourer at coal pit, and Bridget Dineen (1842–1898)★, a house servant. She is Ian's great grandmother.

Louisa was recorded in the 1881 census at Blackvein Row, Lower Machen^b1 with her mother Bridget and five siblings Francis, Rosearia, Helena, John Bryan, a haulier and Jane Palmer (1868–1956).

She was recorded in the 1891 census at 1 Armesly Road, Christchurch^c1. Louisa is working as a general servant to Thomas and Annie Williams at their home in Christchurch. Thomas is a commercial traveller and both he and his wife are Welsh speaking, whereas Louisa speaks only English.
