Frank was born on 30 Oct, 1875 in Sharnbrook, Bedfordshire^a1, the youngest son of John Dunmore (1849–1935)★, a railway official, and Susan Scrivener (1851–1901)★, a dressmaker. He was baptised as an infant on 26 Mar, 1876 in Sharnbrook^b1. He is Stephanie's great grandfather.

Frank was recorded in the 1881 census at Up Street, Sharnbrook^c1 with his father John, now a shoemaker and letter carrier, mother Susan and three siblings Bertie George, Emily Ada and Annie Lucy.

He was recorded in the 1891 census at High Street, New Bradwell^d1. Frank is lodging with his mother's sister Mary Anne and her husband Albert Buttfield. Frank has started work as a polisher at the railway works where his uncle is working as a carpenter.
