Catherine (known as Kitty ) was baptised on 9 Mar, 1834 in Westbury, Buckinghamshire^a1, the eldest daughter of William Whitehead (1803–1863)★, a labourer, and Temperance Russel (1806–1859)★. She is Stephanie's great great grandmother.

Kitty was recorded in the 1851 census at Hoop Yard, Westbury^b1 with her father William, now an agricultural labourer, mother Temperance, a lace maker and five siblings James, an agricultural labourer, Thomas, an agricultural labourer, George, Jane and Elizabeth.

She married George Tew (1825–1908)★, a labourer, on 28 Jan, 1858 in Shalstone, Buckinghamshire^c1 and went on to have eight children with him.
