Transcription

George, son of Thomas and Lydia Tew, abode The Den or Old-Wick extra parochial, occ. Dairy Man. The date and parents names have been struck out and replaced with May 22, George and Ann. The rector has written in the margin: "May 22, No 77. A mistake was made of the time of Entry within the date & the names of parents"

Comments

There were two George Tews baptised in the same year in Shalstone but the Rector became confused when recording the entries. George, son of Thomas and Lydia was baptised on 27 Feb but his cousin George son of George and Ann was later baptised on 22 May. George and Ann were known to be resident at the Den/Old-Wick so the abode and occupation of the baptism entry belong to the George baptised 22 May.
