Tonight we continued looking for clues about the origins of John Gilks, father of William Jilks baptized 26 Sep 1749 in Lower Heyford.

We have a marriage that might possibly be John. It was between John Gilks and Ann Pettifer in Steep Aston on 13 Jan 1744. See earlier diary entry. They were both of Salford on the far West of the county.

We started looking at the original baptism registers of neighbouring parishes to see if we could find any more children between 1744 and 1749. We checked
