The 1921 census was published online this week. It’s currently only available at findmypast and they have made it pay per view even if you have a subscription with them. It’s £3.50 per image so that makes browsing unfeasible.

We looked up all our grandparents:

  • William Chambers was aged 15 years 10 months, living at 26 Cato Street with his father
    George Chambers and 6 siblings. He was working as a porter for Julius Isaacs, pawnbroker
    at 224 High Street Gateshead.1
  • Florence Hall was aged 9, living at 297 Scotswood Road with her father James William
    Hall, mother Dinah and 5 siblings.2
  • Emma Susan Guiver was under one month old, living at 41 Vincent Street, Custom House
    with her father Arthur Frederick Benjamin Guiver, mother Ethel and two siblings. Ethel’s
    father Tom Sweetland and sister Florence were also in the household that night.3
  • Bernard Alcock was aged 19 years 7 months, living at 108 Salisbury Street, Bedford with
    his father Henry Alcock, mother Anastatia and 2 siblings.4
  • Ethel Dunmore was aged 14, living at 24 Edith Street, Northampton, with her father Frank
    Dunmore, mother Ellen and 2 siblings.5
  • Beatrice Mabel Rogers was aged 12, living at 65 Stanley Road, Northampton, with her
    father Amos Rogers, mother Mary Eliza and 3 siblings.6
  • Bert Tew was aged 12 years and 9 months, living at 17 Leicester Street, with his mother
    Annie Wyatt, her husband Joseph, his brother, 2 half sisters and 2 step siblings.7
